Sarah is proud to bring her social justice-oriented practice to her own community here in Hamilton. Her practice focuses on women’s and feminist legal issues, including: gender discrimination affecting pay and promotion; discrimination or dismissal during pregnancy or maternity leave; and sexual harassment in the workplace. She is proud to represent women and gender-queer or non-binary persons combatting abuse, sexism, parental status discrimination, and homophobia on the job, and to educate employers on their obligations to accommodate these workers. When you need a Hamilton human rights lawyer, contact Sarah.
An avid litigator when it comes to Hamilton employment law, Sarah has represented unions and individuals in labour arbitrations, made applications to the Ontario Labour Relations Board, the Canada Industrial Relations Board, at the Child and Family Services Review Board, the Licence Appeal Tribunal, civil lawsuits, professional regulation matters, and judicial reviews at the Ontario Divisional Court, Federal Court, and Federal Court of Appeal.
Whenever possible though, Sarah works with her clients to negotiate a mutually-agreeable resolution without resorting to the courts, whether that is improvements to a severance package, the investigation of human rights complaints, or the negotiation of appropriate accommodations for workers or students.
Before founding Molyneaux Law in early 2018, Sarah practiced at a union-side labour boutique in Toronto after articling at a leading union-side labour law firm. Her legal training included a clinical intensive program in poverty law at Parkdale Community Legal Clinic’s workers’ rights division, where she supported low-wage workers in claims of wrongful dismissal, workplace discrimination, workplace harassment, and wage theft. Sarah then joined McMahon Molyneaux Henriquez Labour & Employment Lawyers in 2020. When you need a Hamilton labour lawyer, contact Sarah.
Sarah is a member of the Hamilton Lawyers Association, the Ontario Bar Association Labour & Employment Program Planning Committee, and the Canadian Association of Labour Lawyers.
Committed to workers’ rights, Sarah’s student volunteer experience included public legal education at the Workers’ Action Centre and the Caregivers Action Centre, as well as litigation support for rural and Indigenous Latin American anti-mining organizers through the Justice and Corporate Accountability Project.
She holds a first-class honours degree in political science and development studies from St. Francis Xavier University, in her home province of Nova Scotia, and a law degree from Osgoode Hall Law School at York University.
When she is not lawyering, Sarah volunteers on progressive political campaigns, tweets, and offers podcast recommendations to anyone who will listen.
